Recipe by Nacha Annamalai for Shastha Sunday Samayal


Little Millet flour – 1 cup

Chickpeas flour – ½ cup

Urad dal – 2 Tsp

Sesame – little

Asafoetida powder – little

Butter – little

Cumin seeds – little

Bengal gram – little

Salt to taste

Chilli powder – 1 tbsp

Oil for frying


Dry roast urad dal and sesame separately

Take a bowl, add all the ingredients and mix well

Add water little by little and knead the ingredients to soft dough consistency.

Take a butter sheet, apply oil and place a small size dough and press and flatten the dough as a round shape.

Heat oil in a pan. Fry the prepared papdi till light golden brown.

Drain excess oil and store in an airtight container.
