DESCRIPTION:AGRICLINICS AND AGRIBUSINESS CENTERS\nDepartment of Agriculture\, Cooperation & Farmers Welfare\, Government of India\nAgri-Clinics and Agri-Business centres Scheme was launched in April 2002 by Government of India with the objective to supplement the public extension system through committed private extension services at free or nominal cost by educated and trained candidates in a self employment mode\, by Extension Division of Department of Agriculture\, Cooperation & Farmers Welfare (DAC and FW)\, Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare\, Government of India. There are two main components for the scheme: Training and Subsidy. \nNational Institute of Agricultural Extension Management (MANAGE)\, Hyderabad\, provides training to Agricultural Graduates through Nodal Training Institutes (NTIs) under Agri-Clinics and Agri-Business Centres Scheme (AC and ABC) for performing extension services. The trained candidates would establish business units under agricultural allied activities. \nSubsidy component is implemented through National Bank for Agricultural and Rural Development (NABARD)\, Mumbai. Trained candidates establishing agri-ventures availing credit facilities are extended with subsidy depending on their project\, gender\, social category and regional preferences. \nObjective of the ACABC Scheme\nThe main objective of this scheme is to promote the establishment of agricultural clinics and Agri Business Centers (ACABC) in the country. A plan has also been prepared by the government to promote agri business through which a person associated with farming or willing to join can take a loan of up to 20 lakh rupees. You can get this amount through Agri Clinic and Agri Business Center Scheme. Apply now with your idea for Africa and South East Asia! \nWhat kind of innovations are we looking for?\nWe are looking for innovative ideas that make the agricultural and food sector more efficient and sustainable along the entire value chain in our partner countries. The Innovation Challenge has three main focuses: \nMechanization\nDigitalization\nRenewable Energies \nIn these areas we are looking for innovations that offer new approaches that lead to positive changes and from which many people in our partner countries will benefit. This could be for instance a new kind of harvester\, a new process design or a new way of cooperating with one another. \nWho can apply?\nWe are looking for start-ups and small businesses from our participating partner countries in Africa and South East Asia. The innovation must be suitable for our partner countries. Recent estimates place the size of the global agriculture at US$ 5 trillion.\nFor India\, it is a matter of livelihood for masses and economic development of the country. India needs the\nsupport of agribusiness professionals educated in the nuances of agriculture trade and practices to\npower the growth of farm sector. In view of economic liberalization and coming in of WTO\, it is\nimportant to generate globally competitive human resource which would help in achieving higher\nproductivity and production through generation and transfer of technologies as well as processing and\nvalue addition\, food safety and quality\, information technology\, etc. This has necessitated the\ndevelopment of human resource which would have skills and expertise to handle the agri marketing\,\ndistribution\, products\, technologies but also the trade and export of agricultural produce.\nImproving quality of agribusiness education holds the key to propelling not only creating better job\nprospects and entrepreneurship but also the growth of the industry as well as the agriculture sector as a\nwhole. The attempts made by India in improving agribusiness education have been the result of\nconcerted efforts of many individuals\, institutions and policy makers. As a result over 50 ABM colleges\nunder SAUs\, 15 plus national level institutes and almost equal number private sector universities are today\noffering globally competitive courses in agribusiness. Some of them like IIM Ahmedabad\, IIM Lucknow\,\nIRMA\, MANAGE\, IIPM\, IIFM\, NIAM etc. have made their mark at the national and international level too.\nSuch role models need to be admired and recognized. \nAgriculture Today Group as the media and policy catalyst has always been on the forefront in providing\ninformation\, inuencing policies\, creating business networks and recognizing performers. DESCRIPTION:State of Maharashtra Agribusiness and Rural Transformation (SMART) project is just starting up and in a few months will release some competitive calls where they will fund 60%. They are keen now to engage with any SMEs for ideas that will help develop value chains\, including millet and sorghum. \nThe SMART calls (that will come out in a couple of months) include: \n1)      PP (Productive Partnerships): 1 buyer and 1 CBO (community based organization) can apply for what is needed for the CBO to match the buyer need eg a processing unit\, storage\, extension support etc. \n2)      MAP (Market Access Plan): If there is no organized buyer but there is an identified market\, SMART will provide 60% of the cost of what is needed to the CBO.\nAlso SMART will help CBO raise equity through eg a bank. SMART has also set up a Credit Guarantee Fund in case the assets of the CBO do not satisfy the Bank. \n3)      Enhanced warehouse based interventions: SMART is making decentralized storage facilities so there is more storage available at the local farmer level. \n4)      Innovative ideas: eg new technologies. DESCRIPTION:Climate Smart Nutrition \nDo you have planet friendly disruptive solution to free the world from malnutrition \nTHE INNOVATION CHALLENGE | CLIMATE SMART INNOVATIONS FOR BETTER NUTRITION \nAn elevator pitch is a critical part of the entrepreneurial process. As competition for research and investment funds increases\, young scientists need to effectively articulate their idea and do so in a manner that is persuasive and precise. Sight and Life developed a platform for organizing an elevator pitch contest (EPC) on disruptive ideas to stimulate networks and dialogue\, especially among innovators. \nThe Elevator Pitch Contest’s goal is to identify and support such projects that can be implemented and produce a meaningful impact in the short term.   \nTo stimulate innovation from different fields\, the contest will identify and support projects that can provide climate smart innovations for better nutrition. \nThe Elevator Pitch Contest will be held at the Micronutrient Forum Global Conference on March 24\, 2020. Seven selected finalists will win a round trip and accommodation to Bangkok to present their idea. Each finalist will receive valuable mentoring throughout the contest and one winner will receive a cash award of US$5\,000. \nELEVATOR PITCH TIMELINE \n31st January 2020 by 11:59 PM (GMT): Complete and submit the online application \n17th February 2020: Seven best entries will be announced \n24th March 2020: Selected innovators will present their ideas to a panel of experts and the audience in five minutes.
